  1. Wherein Crow

Lyrics

Wherein Crow Lives a Long life and Then Drives Off The Highway

Words and Music by Nathan Bell copyright 2010

Crow was never the best of men
He’d made his share of mistakes
So as he hurtled through the windshield
He knew he wouldn’t catch a break
He just lay there in the arroyo
And listened to the howls
Of the Coyotes and the Big Rigs
As they started gearing down

Crow was 85 years old
But passed for 81
He stood by every thing he said
And everything he’d done
He said I hope it rains like hell
On my burying day
And everyone I ever knew
Just stays the hell away

I hope I’ll be a falcon
Who flies before the moon
I lived a long damn time son
But I’ll still die too soon

The last thing Crow thought was
This is a hell of a way to die
To drive myself into the grave
Become my own punch line

He could feel the wind on his face
But his face didn’t feel like his
And the only regret he had
Was for each day that he would miss

He said I, I’d like to be a falcon
Who flies before the moon
I lived a long damn time son
But I’ll still die too soon
